A guided ski touring day at Rogers Pass

The vertical is huge. We average 1,500 m a day, and sometimes we ski more than 2,000 m, so being fit is essential.

We choose each objective up to 48 hours ahead, to fit the weather and conditions. On the day, your guide picks the exact terrain based on the group, the avalanche hazard and the snow.

We always keep one guide for every six guests. Mixed groups and more technical objectives also get a tail guide.

Rogers Pass days suit solid intermediate skiers and snowboarders, or better.

Where we stay: Golden or Revelstoke

We usually stay in Golden or Revelstoke. We prefer Golden, because it gives us more options to head into the Rockies if conditions are poor around Rogers Pass.

You usually book your own lodging. You will find out where the crew stays as you plan with your group and guide.

How Rogers Pass road trips work

Road trips are three days or longer. The Aurora van usually comes too, and you can ride it from Squamish or Whistler.

Once we are in Golden or Revelstoke, the van is $35 a day if you choose to ride it. Riding the van saves you gas and a park pass for your own car.

Road trips also cost $50 a night extra, toward the guide’s hotel and travel. Road trips are upgrade trips: once booked and paid, they cannot be cancelled or refunded.

Every Aurora pass can be used on a road trip. Other guiding companies in Revelstoke and Golden charge around $1,000 a day for a group. With an Aurora pass, the road trip extras are $35 a day for the van and $50 a night.
