Hey folks!
The weekend is coming up quick and I wanted to talk about the plan for Saturday, as well as introduce myself, as I'm new to the Aurora program.
First, let's talk a bit about conditions...
Not much for snow in the forecast and the snow that's around has taken a bit of a beating with recent wind and warming. There are whispers of preserved snow in sheltered polar aspects in the alpine, so the goal will be to get off the beaten track and seek out the goods in quieter corners of the spearhead.
Looking ahead, I'm seeing mixed sun and cloud with cooler temps and light to moderate alpine winds. These colder temps can cause old snow to facet out, so we'll be tracking down these areas with softer snow. Avalanche danger ratings are trending towards green bricks, so if this all stays true we can consider getting on some steeper lines! 🤘
The plan will be to head out towards the Spearhead Glacier and Phalanx! I've got a few fun things in mind and am excited to see where the day takes us.
As for me, I'm an apprentice splitboard guide with the ACMG and have over a decade of experience in guiding, ski patrol, and snowboard instructing. I've worked at a number of operations in the interior and am pretty stoked to start calling the coast mountains home!
Looking forward to getting on snow with you all. Catch you on Saturday!
